Travel Journal - A trip to PEI - Day 7

We've had amazing weather all week so I couldn't complain when the weather decided to make a turn to the worse on our checkout day. The original plan was for us to check out, leave PEI and spend the day in Halifax.  I was the only one in the family who has ever been to Halifax and I was hoping, at the least, to show the kids the Citadel and have lunch downtown.  But it was not meant to be.  By the time we arrived to the Confederation Bridge it was pouring.

And on our way, while we were still debating whether to go to Halifax first or go straight to the airport, we saw a lot of car accidents...that was when we decided to scrap our plans and head to the airport directly and take things easy.

Since we had a few extra hours in the airport now, I started checking to see if there was anything around to kill time.  I found The Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum (free admission) and decided to check it out.  It was perfect.  It was near the airport, indoors (it was pouring) and it was free.  What could go wrong?

To my surprise, there was actually a lot to see here.  We had fun and it killed some time.  I would definitely recommend this place!

After the detour, we headed to the airport, returned our car (snif snif), had a last dinner and went to buy our souvenirs....live lobster :D

PEI, thank you for your warmth and welcome. We loved the visit and loved your ability to remind us to slow down, enjoy food, practice hospitality and appreciate a nice chat with neighbours.  Someday we will be back...
