Travel Journal - A trip to PEI - Day 6

I thought our beach days were over but we woke up and the kids asked for us to squeeze in one more beach trip so we decided to check out a beach in the south shore since that's the area we were staying at.  We found Chelton Beach Provincial Park.  The sand was all red and the tide was super low so the experience was super cool....I walked and walked and could walk sooo far into the ocean it was unreal!.

After a morning at the beach we headed to Charlottetown.  We knew we had to stop by the capital at some point and today seemed like a good day to do so.  Once we got to town, and parked, we stopped by the tourist information booth.  They gave us a map of the town and an activity pamphet to find 'mice' in key historical sites as a way to encourage kids to roam around the city.  We started walking around with no real plans but discovered a lot of neat things along the way.  I have to admit it.  After almost a week in the country, seeing chain stores, cars and street lights seem novel and it took me a few minutes to readjust.

Being the history fan I am, I was disappointed to hear that there was a restoration project going on at the government house.  They made it up when we stumbled upon some of the Fathers of Confederation chatting in the park (see pic above)

For dinner, we decided to head home, stop by the nearby city of Summerside, and grab food from the Superstore nearby.  We loved our pods so much that we really wanted to just have dinner at home!
