Travel Journal - A trip to PEI - Day 4

After 2 days of beach and lobster, the kids were ready to go to where they really wanted to go (don't ask me why):  the Potato Museum.  The Museum is on the other side of the island so it was going to be a bit of a ride there.

As would be expected, we saw a lot of potatoes here.  The history, the nutrition, the machinery, the farming proces and the types of potatoes were all displayed.  The museum isn't big but it was a nice little place to visit.  (and it had AC!).  Of course, at the end of the visit, we had to try the restaurant. It is right adjacent to the gift shop and all it sold was made with...you guessed it! Potatoes :D

On our way back to Cavendish we stopped by Cedar Dunes Provincial Park.  Janet had told me to check out the WestPoint Lighthouse Museum so we stopped by.  It was a very scenic drive, across fields of potato everywhere.

The lighthouse is actually also a hotel.  It had a lot of memorabilia but I am glad we did not drag the kids along - it is quite steep and tight.  But for just one or two people, the view from on top is marvelous!

We did not go to the beach here, but the kids were mesmorized by the wildlife and were unwilling to checkout the lighthouse so they stayed outside while I paid the entrance fee to check the lighthouse out.

On our way back home, we stumbled upon this place (I don't know if it has a name) and thought it was nice enough for another stop for pictures.

The kids seemed to love the pool...so as it became tradition...we headed to the pool for a bit upon getting back to our home and then headed out for dinner.

For dinner, we headed out to nearby Carr's Oyster Bar and though originally sat inside, we realized why island folks sit outside - it is so much more refreshing! We requested to change our seats and were soon given a seat at their patio and saw the sunset as we enjoyed our food and my husband enjoyed some yummy raw oysters
