Food, Kids, Allergies and Hong Kong
This is the third post on a series of posts on our last trip to Hong Kong. My son is allergic to nuts and both kids are not that adventurous with food, so we had some challenges coming to a city that serves nuts and nut related products everywhere!

HIT: Midnight Feasts - There are kiosks like this (this one was very busy) that sells all kids of snacks. Just give it a try!!! The kids loved it and aside from a little prayer for no nut reaction, we never had any issues!
HIT: Take them to a REAL Market - We took them to a real market at 8 AM on our way for breakfast on the first morning (Since everyone is jet lagged). It was a great 'trip' and it was not busy because the merchants were just setting up. They got to see and smell lots of things
HIT: Get some fresh fruit (not from the supermarket). We loved the mangos. And they were sold per 4 units...Perfect to keep things fresh all the time
HIT: SEAFOOD like you've never seen before! See if you can try to go to those places where you pick and buy seafood and then they take all you bought to a nearby restaurant to cook them to order. It's expensive, I grant you that, but it might be a worthwhile experience
COMPLETE HIT: Macau
For Lunch we made reservations at the Albergue 1601. Totally recommended. The portions are BIG
And for dessert? Cafe Nata for egg tarts
Pork Chop in a bun - greasy goodness that my stomach couldn't finish - still managed to take a pic :D
All in 1 day !!!! (and the kids had a McDonalds' Stop too!)
HIT: More dessert - 33 Kam Fai Path, Yuen Long, Hong Kong For dessert. We stayed nearby so it made sense to go!

HIT: Take advantage of Jet Lag - on the first few days take the kids out for Hong Kong Style breakfast. Then go back and have a nap if you have to :D We tried everything we thought the kids had never tried!
I had to take them there! |

HIT: Fancy Dim Sum. If you are looking for unconventional, these are buns...not mushroom! Lei Garden in Shatin
HIT OR MISS? If you really want to try interesting Dim Sum, at Disney, ONLY on weekends, you can get them at the Crystal Lotus Restaurant. We were there on a weekday so only Shrimp Dumplings shaped like Mickey
Miss? KFC - Yes, I took them to KFC once.....They have funky stuff but also the traditional stuff. BUT....no regular fries so the kids were not that thrilled - the fries they serve is spicy.
And I noticed something funny - people wear gloves to eat at KFC in Hong Kong
